Signature

step 1

Having a digital version of your signature can be very beneficial for your graphic work. It is also very easy to make in photoshop.

step 2

First, open a new document in photoshop. SWet the background to white. Grab your brush tool and select a soft brush at 4px diameter.

step 3

Set the foreground color to black and create a new layer. To make a successful signature, each letter must be on its own layer. Keep that in mind. First, my signature will be "Amoeba" so I will start with an 'A'. Make sure your first letter provides a good lead-in to your next letter.

step 4

Like I said before, make a new layer for each letter so create a second layer for your second letter. To make your signature look good, it will be trial and error. Make sure your letters look a little "rough" so it looks like someone actually wrote it on paper. Your letters don't need fine lines or anything.

step 5

If there is no lead-in from the previous letter, just make the next letter overlap the previous letter like I did with the "O". The end of the "m" ended near the bottom and I didn't want to start my "o" at the bottom so I started it near the top, but positioned the letter over the "m" to make it look connected.

step 6

Make sure all of your letters have the same style. Don't settle for less or your signature will look like it was done by a 5 year old.

step 7

Keep the letters on the same level as well. You don't want certain letters to start higher or lower than the one next to it. That's one of the reasons why we put them on seperate layers.. so you can position them wherever you want.
