Scanlines

step 1

Scanlines create a nice 'tech' feel to any image. I usually use them on my backgrounds or on images with extra space that I need to fill. This tutorial introduces how to make a scanline pattern and apply it to a document.

step 2

Create a document 1px wide and 3px high. Zoom in to the max. Fill the top pixel with any color(color determines the color of lines, I chose black). Go to EDIT>>DEFINE PATTERN and press OK.

step 3

You can close out of this document. Open a new document with a decent amount of space. 300x300px will do. Fill the Document with any color. Press CTRL+A to select all and then go to EDIT>>Fill. Under "Use" Select "Pattern" and find your pattern. Select it and press OK. Your document will now be filled with lines. Change the opacity to 30% to lighten it up a bit and you're done! Note: the image has white lines because I initially created the pattern with white instead of black.
