Palm Pilot

step 1

Learn how to create your own handheld palm pilot.

step 2

First get a picture of a palm. You can cut and paste mine if you would like.

step 3

Just like my razr tutorial, You're going to need to outline the main parts of the palm with the pen tool. It doesn't matter what color you make the outlines. Just fill them with any color. Look at my picture to see which parts you are supposed to outline. Just make sure everything is visible. Once you got them all, move to the next step.

step 4

Hide all your layers except the main outline. Double click the main outline to get to its layer style. Apply a gradient overlay and set the angle to 0. Click on the gradient bar to goto the Gradient Editor. Copy the gradient setting as seen in the picture. From left to right the bars are #ebedec, #767676, #ebebebc, #ebebebc, #ebebebc, #767676, #ebebebc. The tab locations from left to right are 0,5,20,50,80,95,100. Try to make your gradient match mine as close as possible.

step 5

You should have something like this.

step 6

Right click the layer with the main outline and select Copy Layer Style. Click on the bottom outline(It's the orange outline on the first picture), right click and select Paste Layer Style. Double click this layer to get to its layer style and give it a 1px stroke with the color #333333. You should have something like this.

step 7

The buttons are real easy. Goto one of your buttons and double click the layer its on to get to the layer style. Give it a gradient overlay. Change the style to Radial. Change the gradient colors to gray and white. More specifically #cfd4d7 and #ffffff. Make sure the white is showing on the inside of the radial gradient and not on the outside. Give the button a 1px stroke of #333333 as well. Right click this layer and select Copy Layer Style. Right click each of your buttons and paste the same layer style on all of them.

step 8

You should have something like this.

step 9

Now for my yellow outline, I'm gonna goto its layer style and give it a color overlay. Set the color to #606f76. Give it a 1px stroke of #333333.

step 10

Goto the layer with the outline of the screen. It should be the green outline from the first picture. Double click this layer to get to its layer style. Give it a Linear gradient overlay. Change the gradient colors to #777777 and #ffffff. Make sure the angle is at 90 degrees and make sure the white area of the gradient is at the top. Give this layer a 1px stroke of #333333.

step 11

For the icons on the buttons, all you need to do is goto the original picture, use the rectangular marquee tool to make a selection around the icon and copy and paste the icons from the original and paste them on their own layers. Position these icons so they match the palm's buttons. Make sure you set the blending mode to Multiply for these icons.

step 12

Create a new layer and draw some lines as seen from the original. Set the opacity to 30%. See picture for what lines I'm talking about.

step 13

There are 4 more icons above the buttons you need to copy and paste from the original picture. Do this and set them in their positions. This time, you should be able to use the elliptical marquee tool to easily make a selection around the icons of the original picture. This means we won't need to change the blending mode for these icons.

step 14

Finally, copy and paste any image onto a new layer and position it above the screen. I also went ahead and added another circle around the main button. Do whatever you like to improve the design.
